Fen D'Lucie
With a strong family background in the arts, sculptor Fen D'Lucie initially trained in Art History and Drawing before following a career in an unrelated field.
Throughout her life, however, Fen remained passionate about art, and today from her studio just outside Dorchester she is dedicated to creating beautiful bronze sculptures.
Fen loves to observe form, and takes her inspiration from the living world - flora, fauna and and also the human body - applying a deep understanding of anatomy and physiology gained from her experience as a personal trainer.
Using the ancient lost wax method of bronze casting, Fen initially creates her sculptures in wax to produce a range of stunning one-off and limited edition pieces.
ARTIST STATEMENT
"... portraying people's energy as they express life is a distinct joy for me. The stretch of a neck, that exerts tension along fascia tissue down through the torso, which in turn supports the movement in active muscles at the top of the legs. We are nothing in isolation. One movement sparks energy to another area and my passion is expressing those lines of connectivity; the body moving as one. This feeling of energy extends to my vegetative and abstract pieces where the flow of movement is important to the aesthesia of the whole."
