Barbara Green is an established Dorset-based artist whose reputation and popularity has been increasing steadily over recent years, particularly since retiring from teaching and setting up her own studio in Morecombelake, West Dorset.

A qualified art teacher, Barbara is a versatile artist who works in a variety of media – oil, watercolour, collagraph, etching, monoprinting and collage. Her choice of subject matter is inspired by her immediate home environment, the Dorset landscape and travels abroad.

A regular exhibitor at galleries and shows across Dorset and the rest of the UK, Barbara has won several Art Awards and her work is held in private collections in Australia, Denmark, Switzerland, Germany, USA and in many parts of Britain.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

“My inspiration comes from walks along the coast and through the countryside of Dorset, making sketches which capture the essence of the places seen. The subsequent journey is through the interpretation of these sketches together with the expression of my feelings in paint or print making. I paint in my studio from sketches and memories but also often paint ‘en plein air’ from a place where I love to be”.
