Edward Vine
Born and having lived for over 40 years only yards from Weymouth’s Beach and Harbour and since on The Isle of Portland for a similar time, the sea runs through this artist’s family life. His father worked on Harbour maintenance and his grandfather was a young Lifeboatman in the days when they rowed out to save lives. He was later Weymouth’s Lifeboat Cox.
Edward’s youthful passion for art started with pencil drawing and evolved into a full-time profession by mid-life.
He paints in all mediums but versatile, expressive acrylic is his favourite. His home county is the prime subject - from the dramatic Heritage coastline, intimate landscapes or the simplicity of a hedgerow daisy. The goal is to capture beauty and atmosphere, which Dorset offers in abundance.
Numerous, successful one man shows at Dorset galleries and beyond have meant that his paintings are bringing pleasure in many private collections worldwide.
