The wide sweeping sands of Weymouth Bay seem to never end and on a bright and clear day such as this, the seas turn green against the warm glow of the beach. Now whilst it is rare to find the beach devoid of human life, apart from early morning and the promenade of buildings, this is how I imagine owning the view all to myself on a glorious summer day. From a technical viewpoint, the painting is one of a half and two quarters, half to the blue sky, quarter to the green sea and the last quarter to the red sands and all balanced by the unifying white light of the clouds breaking waves and buildings. -- I would have loved to keep the painting going all the way along the coast, through Osmington Mills to the white cliffs at Durdle Door, West Lulworth, a painting in the making I fear...
